Just Cabinet collection   /   SAMSUNG x MUN

Seoul based furniture designer Seungji Mun and Samsung Electronics have successfully launched their collaborative work, ‘JUST CABINET’ series last Summer at Samsung Digital Plaza Gangnam flagship store. Mun suggested completely new conception of home appliance through a brilliant combination of Samsung’s new refrigerator range as widely known as ‘BESPOKE Collection’ and home storages designed by himself.

Cabinet is beautifully applied as a case for brand new refrigerator and the entire cabinet series are produced with carefully selected materials including fabric, wood and metal to twist conservative notion of home appliance and offer customising options for customers.

Arguably this fridge-cabinet shows strong possibility that refrigerator can be able to break walls amongst spaces in home. The designer assures that people could enjoy warm and cozy feeling with the ‘furniturised refrigerator’ not only in their kitchen but also in their living room.

Furthermore, Mun used recycled polyester upholstery from Luum Textiles for the cabinet series and hoped customers could be able to consider our environment and their sustainable life once again. He strongly believes that deep concern for the mother earth is now a fundamental virtue as a furniture designer.

Mun says ‘My approach to this project was a small change of act of looking at a refrigerator. I thought that refrigerator was born as a storage and I concentrated on its original function. Cabinet and refrigerator in this point, have same identity as a home furniture.’
